Ireland can grow its own Sugar! Part of the Earth Rising Eco Festival in IMMA, Dublin, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of October 2022
Rennie has been researching the cessation of Irish sugar production. Ireland imports its sugar now from other countries in Europe, even though the soil and climate are ideal for growing beet. It could also provide green energy with the butane gas that’s released during the sugar beet processing.
Considering the sugar factory in Carlow was the first Irish state owned factory in 1925, is it time to reconsider the value of producing Irish Sugar again?
